About

Family Hobby Hub is a resource for parents, grandparents, and caregivers looking for simple, screen-free ways to fill the hours with kids — rainy afternoons, long car rides, waiting rooms, and everyday boredom included.

Every guide on this site follows the same idea: activities should use things you probably already have around the house, take only a few minutes to set up, and actually hold a kid’s attention. Most posts also come with a free printable checklist or activity sheet, so you can grab it, print it, and go — no extra shopping trip required.

What You’ll Find Here

We organize activities around the moments families actually deal with:

  • Indoor Activities — sensory play, art projects, and boredom-busters for rainy or housebound days
  • Outdoor Activities — backyard games, camping ideas, and warm-weather water play
  • On-the-Go Activities — car rides, flights, and quiet activities for restaurants and waiting rooms
  • Learning & STEM Activities — simple science experiments and kindergarten-readiness skill builders
  • Printables & Worksheets — free checklists, trackers, and activity cards to download and print

Activities are grouped by age range where it matters, from babies just a few months old through early elementary kids, so you can find something that actually fits the child in front of you.

Our Approach

We’re not against screens — but we think every family benefits from having a rotation of screen-free options ready to go, especially for the moments when a device isn’t available, isn’t appropriate, or you’d just rather not reach for it. Every activity we publish is something we’d actually hand to a real kid, not just a list filler.

Have a question, a request for a specific age group or activity type, or found something that didn’t work as described? We’d love to hear from you on our Contact page.
